Wupatki National Monument

Wupatki National Monument is situated along a naturally occurring rock foundation. At the time of its construction, Wupatki is believed to be one of the largest structures, and also has a community room and ball court. The stone masonry, presence of a ball court, and the overall large structure highlights the blending of cultures and different people that once occupied Wupatki. Today the location is still held as sacred by multiple tribal communities who continue to care for and respect it. The Hopi Tribe, Zuni Tribe, and Navajo Nation all have oral stories pertaining to Wupatki indicating the cultural importance for preservation.
