Saguaro National Park
Named after the countless cacti that cover the lands, Saguaro National Park surrounds the outskirts of the larger Tucson area in two main sections. Saguaro National Park is home to diverse plant and animal populations that have sustained people for thousands of years in the climate of the Sonoran Desert. The ancient Hohokam people are one of the most famous occupants as their traditional homelands covered a vast majority of the current boundaries of Arizona. Saguaro National Park West is home to beautiful landscapes seemingly untouched by modern life, and hiking trails leading to petroglyphs left by the Hohokam. Saguaro National Park continues to be crucial place to the modern descendants of the Hohokam as it is where their ancestors once lived and thrived.
